Hosted by the Hornsby Model Engineers Co-Op Ltd, the Galston500 is an annual event which challenges a collection of 5” Scale Model Locomotive teams to complete a combined total of 500 laps of the picturesque 1km track at the Galston Valley Railway, to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research.

This years Galston500 was be held on Saturday the 29th October, which is the weekend of Halloween.

With plenty of entertainment planned for the day, both on and off the track, the public are welcome to come along, watch the challenge unfold, cheer on the drivers, and even have a ride behind some of the participating locomotives, as it continues throughout the day.

Come along in your Halloween costume, for a fun and spooky day!

Gates open to the public at 9:30am - with rides available from 10 am to dusk!

Our Canteen and Ride Tickets both have Card Facilities available.

    Please Note: Children under 3 years of age must be accompanied by a Ride Ticket holder 18 years or older.




  • Conditions of Entry

    • Each person enters the site of Galston Valley Railway at their own risk and are therefore required to assess their own risk prior to entry.
    • Each person 18 years or older requires an Adult Entry Ticket to enter the site of Galston Valley Railway. Each Adult ticket covers up to 4 accompanying Children.
    • Adult Entry Tickets are available via pre-book Online. A limited number of tickets will be available at the gate, provided the entry time is not sold out.
    • Entry will NOT be permitted before your allocated arrival time. Ticket Holders are permitted to arrive at any time, after their allocated arrival time on the day of the event.
    • A Full Refund for Entry Tickets is available for cancellation made up until 5 days before the event.
      After this time any unused Entry Tickets will become a donation to the event.
    • If the event is cancelled (completly or partically), by Hornsby Model Engineers Co-operative Ltd,
      NO Refund will be issued. Any unused Entry Tickets will become a donation to the event.
    • No alcohol or dogs (apart from Guide and Assistant Dogs) are allowed on the site of Galston Valley Railway.
    • Ensure all members of your group take all effort to avoid the spread Covid-19.

    Ride Conditions

    • All train passengers MUST wear fully enclosed footwear
    • All persons riding the train will require a Ride Ticket or Ride Pass(regardless of age).
      Ride Tickets are to be obtained from the station ticket office, prior to the train departing.
      All Day Ride Passes are availble from the Front Gate and Canteen.
    • Children 3 years of age and under must be accompanied by a Ride Ticket/Pass holder 18 years or older.
    • There is no minimum or maximum age to ride the trains, however ALL passenger must wear fully enclosed footwear and be able to sit on the seat facing forwards (No babes in carriers or held in arms)
    • All passengers must sit upright at all times, not lean over, keep their feet on the running boards, and keep their arms in. Backpacks must be placed on the seat in front of them or left at the station.

    • An Adult Entry Ticket refund is NOT availble for ticket holders who are unable to ride the trains due to failure to adhere to these conditions.

    ALL Train Passengers MUST Wear Fully Enclosed Footwear while riding the trains
    ALL Train Passengers MUST Be Seated and facing forward while riding the trains


    Galston Vally Railway runs steam trains.
    Steam trains are HOT! They emit smoke, steam, oil, sparks and hot cinders.
    We suggest you wear older clothes when visiting us.
    We will not be responsible for damage to clothing or personal property
    caused when visiting our bushland venue and / or riding on trains.
